UK: Grazia’s latest issue goes 3D

Memopad-grazia The lates issue of the British women's weekly Grazia, published by Bauer UK, features the London-based singer Florence Welch (from the Florence and The Machine band) on the
cover.  That's not the major news here, what makes this issue so special is that it has certain pages embedded with QR codes that activate Augmented Reality technology, so that when the pages are held up to a computer’s Webcam
or to an iPhone, 3D content from the issue will appear on the screen.

It’s not
the first time
a magazine has used the device – Esquire and InStyle US did this as reported in this blog a few weeks back –
but it is a novelty in the UK. The code activates both editorial and advertising on-screen 3D features such as S
pring trends
from Grazia’s editors, a smoky eye how-to by makeup artist Lisa Eldridge
and a campaign for Banana Republic’s chinos.  Grazia UK also launched an iPhone App, coinciding with the release of this issue.
