France: Gala will publish a daily “Gala Croisette” during the Cannes Film Festival

Publishing giant Gruner + Jahr’s French subsidiary, Prisma Presse, announced today that its celebrity weekly Gala would be publishing a daily spinoff called “Gala Croisette”, during the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, from May 12-23.  The Festival takes place on the French riviera in Cannes every year in May, but the Palais des Festivals, where the showings and ceremony occur, is actually located on the “Croisette”, the famous boulevard going along the Mediterranean sea, hence the daily’s name!

The 20-page Gala Croisette will be available every morning during the Festival and will feature mostly coverage of the many parties held at the time as well as the red carpet and many celebs attending the Festival.  Its format and paper quality (glossy) is supposed to mirror Gala magazine’s.  Prisma plans to distribute 5 000 to 10 000 copies for free near the Palais des Festivals and in all the major luxury hotels and night-clubs in the Cannes area.  The weekly Gala will also be published during those two weeks and Gala Croisette’s editorial coverage will also be available on

More to come on this next month when the first visuals become available…
