U.S. edition of Elle marks its 25th anniversary

The American edition of Elle launched 25 years ago already!  For the occasion, the French-owned magazine’s October issue is coming up with several covers featuring four young American actresses.

Elle U.S.’ ad pages are up an incredible 47% YoY as advertisers have been lining up to take part in the magazine’s 25th anniversary celebration.  Kevin Martinez, VP/Brand Publisher, told trade publication min that Elle’s “cutting-edge marketing programs and incredible effort by a tremendous sales team contributed to our success. The October issue will also be the first issue featured on our new iPad app, which offered extra incentive for our advertisers.”

Celebrating its anniversary with a four-cover split run (see covers above), Elle managed to ignite eye-catching controversy with its September cover featuring a retouched Gabourey Sidibe.  So the good times are still rolling for Elle U.S. it seems despite the many management changes


Madame Figaro will celebrate its 30th anniversary on October 30th

Madame Figaro will celebrate its 30th anniversary on October 30th by offering its readers four key issues reflecting the main editorial themes of the women’s glossy magazine supplement. 

Indeed, the October 30 issue will be dedicated to “beauty”, the November 6 to “luxury”, the November 13 to “fashion” and the November 20 to “fashion design”. More to come on this blog as we’ll get closer to autumn…

CH: “L’Illustré” celebrated its 90th anniversary with a redesign

On April 28, Zurich-based publisher Ringier gave a fresh look to its 90-year old French-language flagship news and pictures magazine L’Illustré.  It is the little brother of “Schweizer Illustrierte” (Swiss Illustrated in English) for French-speaking Switzerland.

The first part of the magazine is still devoted to Celebrities – always humorous and fresh, not mean-spirited – followed by the  Current Events section, which is even more breaking-news and vibrant than before.  The second part of the magazine has been merged into one. The pastel-hued Travel, Fashion, Beauty, Wellness and Food sections are bursting with practical information in particular.  The Planet pages complement the Car, Decor and Law & Money sections, which were launched last year with great success.

L’Illustré, which is based in Lausanne, currently circulates 90 635 copies per week and has a readership of 353 000 readers per issue.  Click to download the magazine’s media pack (in German), courtesy of go4media.ch.

Italy: Buon compleanno, Max!

Men’s magazine Max turned 25 and still boasts the highest readership in the Italian male magazine segment!  Indeed, Max has a current reach of 757 000 readers (Audipress), ahead of competitors Men’s Health and GQ Italia.
