Mediterranean home & lifestyle mag Côté Sud launches Dutch edition

A Dutch version of the home magazine with Mediterranean flavor Côté Sud Magazine  is to launch shortly.  The magazine caters to those who are keen on the Riviera lifestyle and fond of  products and flavors from all over Mediterranean sea.
  
It is the fourth international edition to be launched in Dutch-speaking Belgium (“Flemish” is the language to be precise) and Holland with a print run of 50 000 copies (25 000 in Belgium and just as many in The Netherlands).  The title will be published in 285 x 225 mm perfect-bound format and glossy paper.

 

Lagardère launches Belgian edition of Psychologies magazine

Psychologies magazine just launched its 12th international edition in Belgium, a small European country currently on the verge of being split in two.  This new “dual” edition will be published under license by Lagardère’s usual partner there, Edition Ventures, which already publishes local versions of Elle, Elle Decor and Art & Decoration).  There will be a French and a Flemish edition of the magazine for both communities with a print run of 35 000 copies a month each.

Since the inception of the Italian edition in 2004, Psychologies magazine has now global editions in China, Russia, Spain, Great-Britain, South Africa, Mexico, Greece, and some more.

Martha Stewart Living expands internationally

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is to launch Everyday Food in Dubai in July 2010. The monthly title will have a circulation of 35000 and will be distributed in Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Syria and Jordan.  The US edition of Everyday Food currently reaches 4,5 million readers a month.  Additionally, Martha Stewart Weddings is also set to launch in Dubai by October 2010, under license from local entertainment firm Takhayal.  The quarterly bridal magazine will have a circulation of 40 000 and will be distributed in Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Syria and Jordan.  The US edition of Martha Stewart Weddings, which debuted in 1994, currently circulates about 230 000 copies every quarter.

Also, Martha Stewart Living magazine will launch in Indonesia under a licensing agreement with Kompas Gramedia, the largest media conglomerate there. The monthly home title will launch in August 2010 with a circulation of 20000.

Lastly, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Pizzazz Media to produce and distribute Martha Stewart Living in the UK. The new edition, which will be distributed throughout the UK, New Zealand and Australia, is expected to be published on a monthly basis following the September 2010 launch.  The magazine’s circulation is 50 000 and the cover price is £3,75 (€4,52).

Hola! launches new international edition in Brazil

Celebrity weekly Hola! has just launched its title in Brazil with local publishing partner Siquini Editorial e Eventos, which specializes in enthusiast publications such as Polo Life, Golf Life, Gourmet Life, Spa Life, etc.

 The print run is 70000 and cover price is 8,90 reales (or about €4). Brazilian model and Victoria’s Secret spokesperson Adriana Lima appears on the cover of the debut issue next to her husband to introduce her baby daughter.

And Hola! Brasil already has its own companion website running at br.hola.com.

Kuwait: celebrity weekly Gala launches local edition

Celebrity weekly magazine Gala  continues its internationalization.  Indeed, it is about to make its debut in Kuwait with the June issue.

After launches in Syria and Lebanon last year, this is the third edition of the international celebrity and lifestyle magazine from Gruner + Jahr published under license in the rapidly growing Middle East region. This means that there are now editions of Gala in Germany, France, Poland, Russia (Gala Biografia), Croatia, Lithuania, Syria, Lebanon and now Kuwait.

G+J International’s partner in the Kuwaiti venture is the United Group, one of the region’s biggest publishers. In addition to license editions of “Marie Claire,” Gala Syria and Gala Lebanon, it also publishes its own high-end publications. Gala Kuwait will be available monthly in newsstands at a cover price equivalent to about US$3,40.

Mexico: design and architecture mag “Abitare” to launch local edition

Abitare, RCS Media’s bilingual monthly architecture, design and art magazine edited by Stefano Boeri will launch an international edition in Mexico this Fall. 

The Mexican edition of Abitare will be published in partnership with Landucci SA de CV, a Mexico City-based international publishing house, well-known for its high-quality art books.  This joint effort will bring Abitare in what it is considered to be one of the world’s most promising emerging markets. 

The agreement also envisages the future development of the online platform and the organisation of events under the Abitare brand, such as the next Abitare Talks workshop, to be held in Milan on 14 and 15 April, on the occasion of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the international furniture fair, during which Abitare’s Italian and foreign editors will hold an open meeting.

Launched in 1961 in Italy, Abitare now has international editions in Bulgaria and China, both published under license.

Indonesia: Marie Claire launches 37th international edition

Indonesia is quite a booming market for western magazine brands these days. It’s at least the third magazine launch there announced since the beginning of this year after Elle Decor and Forbes.  According to Victor Visot, Lagardère Active’s CEO for Greater China and Southeast Asia, Indonesia is currently home to over 500 magazine titles, read by 17% of adults in towns and 6% in the countryside, more than the number of people going online.

And now Marie Claire launched its latest edition in Jakarta about a week ago with local publisher Trinaya Tirta Media, also publisher of Elle and Elle Decor, with a print run of 55 000.
